College Application Season: A mockumentary

News Club skits often come from weird inspirations, and this short mockumentary was no different. After the real-life Alejandro handed out application papers for his made up school as a one-off bit one day, the story came together for me almost instantly. I had never written a mockumentary before, despite loving the genre my whole life. After getting the idea, I wrote the entire screenplay myself within only a couple of hours, completely riding the flow of nonstop ideas for the piece I wanted to create. While it is jam-packed with references to SAIL High School culture and niche online jokes, the skit operates strongly even without the context. I edited the film entirely by myself as well, which let me understand and adjust to a documentary style of filmmaking, even in a parody format.
